Work Order Tracking in GE Aviation’s Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) Facility
WISER’s asset tracking and locating solution helped GE Aviation increase productivity and improve their workflow management by an order of magnitude.
THE PROBLEM: WORKFLOW MANAGEMENT INEFFICIENCIES (SEARCHING FOR PARTS)
At GE Aviation’s maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facility ACSC, tracking parts and work order flow management was a huge issue and top priority to correct.
Each day, ACSC checked the status of 2,000+ work orders to set the work priorities for that day. This task would take approximately twelve people three hours each, by manually checking which work orders had made it to which station in the previous day.
What ACSC needed most was an accurate, efficient, and simple location system, to automate the prioritization process and track their workorder’s locations in real time, all the time.
THE SOLUTION: THE WISER ATLAS UWB ASSET TRACKING AND LOCATING SYSTEM
With the WISER ATLAS installed, the daily task that took twelve people three hours each was reduced to just 15-20 min per person. Previously, ACSC had to rely on knowing the final operation that had been performed on a part to estimate its location. Then, they would manually search to find it. With WISER ATLAS, they now have a continuous and accurate overview of all their work orders locations.
GE ACSC evaluated several systems, and ultimately chose WISER ATLAS due to its accuracy, ease of set-up, highly competitive price point, accuracy, ease of setup, and the comprehensive flexibility built into the tracking software itself.
