Defense Case Study

WISER delivers robust, reliable positioning and timing data using a unique combination of ultra-wideband (UWB) technology and WISER’s own Redundant Radio Localization and Tracking (RRLT) technology. Initially developed with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, WISER RRLT delivers persistent localization even in tough, reflective settings where location insights are especially difficult to obtain.

Defense Applications

Because the WISER Locator generates real-time location data at a highly precise level, it has countless uses in defense.

  • Logistics and inventory improvements in military warehouses

  • Safety and security applications in military bases

  • Location-based operational insights for military depots or other settings

Defense benefits

  • Ability to deliver real-time location data to standard-issue end-user devices (EUDs)

  • Size, weight, and power (SWaP2) optimization

  • Wholly U.S. owned and operated company

  • Hardware manufactured in North America

Past Performance

WISER’s past performance in defense includes RRLT contracts with the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army, and U.S. Navy. WISER has also provided real-time location solutions for multiple civilian agencies in the U.S. Government as well as three leading aerospace / defense contractors. Furthermore, WISER has participated in many DoD-sponsored field trials and closed demonstrations at U.S. Army, Air Force, and Naval bases as well as joint command operations such as Trident Spectre.

In 2018 WISER RRLT won Phase I, II, and III awards in the U.S. Army’s first ever xTechSearch competition. The following year WISER received semifinalist, top-10 honors in Nasa’s global iTech competition exploring technologies with potential to support human missions on Mars. In 2021, the Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Atlantic awarded WISER a location technology category prize in the Palmetto Tech Bridge Challenge.

Core Competencies

  • Precise wireless asset location, visibility, and tracking

  • Accurate and reliable localization for cluttered, highly-reflective, hazardous environments

  • High precision tracking without manual scanning or checkout processes

  • UWB technology for 3D location and tracking in real time

  • SWaP2-optimized components for micro-location

Differentiators

  • Quick setup and moveable mesh with auto-calibration

  • Reliable system operation does not require GPS or existing wireless networks

  • Functionality around metal and munitions, out-of-sight, and around barriers

  • Lightweight equipment with few setup requirements

  • Highly secure; no interference with existing systems and networks
